David Weinberger
Began his career in the late 70s as a lecturer in philosophy at New Jersey’s Stockton State College. During this period he was also working as a freelance author, writing not only scientific articles but also humorous compositions for the New York Times, Harvard Business Review, the Smithsonian, Alfred Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazine, and TV Guide. In 1985, after the college did not renew his contract, David Weinberger moved on to concentrate on strategic and evident marketing.
His “one-man consultancy firm,” founded in 1994, achieved success in the US in just a few years, providing consultancy services to clients such as RR Donnelley, Intuit, Sun Microsystems, Esther Dyson’s Release 1.0, and CSC Index.
Since 1995, David Weinberger has also been involved in the management of start-ups for intranet solutions, Web search engines, and Web-based collaborative software. He is also a co-author of the best-selling “Cluetrain Manifesto,” published in 2000 by Perseus Books. Similar success greeted the arrival of his “Small Pieces Loosely Joined,” published in 2002 to critical acclaim in the trade press. Currently, David Weinberger confesses to writing “too much,” which includes blog postings and articles for Wired, Salon, USA TODAY, Release 2.0 (Esther Dyson’s Release 1.0), and many other publications. His book “Everything is Miscellaneous: The Power of the New Digital Disorder” was published by Times Books in May 2007.
David Weinberger is also a Fellow of the Berkman Center for Internet and Society, Harvard School of Law.
